The number one reason anybody would want to upgrade their boiler right now is energy bills. An inefficient boiler means you’ll use more energy in your home to keep it at the temperature you want, and the more energy you use, the more expensive it will be for you. This is especially true if you have an old boiler like oil fired boilers.
Here at ZOA Energy Solutions, we know that even a few £s here and there is a saving worth making, and some predictions actually suggest a new, more efficient boiler could bring down your energy bills by around £300 per year on average – and that’s certainly worth it.
With 0% VAT payable on energy saving measures like this running until March 2027, there’s never been a better time to look into upgrading your to a new boiler.
And, of course, the main appeal, which is that there are free boiler schemes out there waiting for you to take advantage of.

Free boiler schemes and eco grants seem to be ever-changing, but stick with Eco Grants by ZOA Energy Solutions and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest developments so you’ll always know if you qualify or not. Check if you qualify today by filling out a quick form with us, or you can read on below for a comprehensive guide to various free boiler and eco grant schemes:
Absolutely! The majority of the schemes for free boilers we’ll discuss today are government-backed and government-funded. ECO4, LA Flex, and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme are all examples of this. Certain eligibility criteria will need to be met in order to qualify for support, so it isn’t as though free boilers are being promised to every household in the UK.
Warm Homes Fund is slightly different and was created based on a collaboration between Affordable Warmth Solutions, National Grid, and Community Interest Company. Again, the funding available is legitimate and eligibility criteria will apply.
Your boiler is one of the most important things in your home, and making sure it’s in perfect working order is vital if you want to save money on your energy bills and ensure your home functions exactly as it should. Just because your boiler needs an upgrade doesn’t mean you’ll have to pay. Thanks to a range of free boiler grant schemes and other eco grants, you could have part or all of the cost of your new boiler installation covered.
Want to find out if you qualify? All we’ll need is some basic information about your circumstances to get started. As soon as you fill in our form above, we’ll be able to check which grants and schemes you qualify for and help you with your new boiler installation.
ECO4 isn’t just a free boiler scheme, in fact, it covers a range of eco-home improvements such as insulation and solar panels, too. But this also includes replacement boilers and boiler upgrades.
ECO4 began in April 2022 and will run until the end of March 2026 with multiple phases to the scheme, but it has essentially been created in order to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency throughout homes in the UK. Funding for the UK government’s ECO scheme comes from a number of the main energy suppliers who are obligated to provide funding under the initiative.
Those looking for a free boiler grant in Scotland, a free boiler grant in Wales, or a free boiler in England could potentially access full or partial funding for a free boiler with ECO4 (those looking for a free boiler in Northern Ireland can access the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme – but we won’t cover that today).
You can find out if you’re eligible below, but for now, let’s talk about what ECO4 has to do with boilers at all.
Plenty of houses in the UK rely on a non-condensing boiler to heat their home, which is notorious for their energy inefficiency (compared to more modern boilers) and high carbon emissions. Plenty of other houses in the UK have a boiler that’s past its best, leading to uncomfortable living conditions and higher energy bills, too.
Before we continue looking at the other grants we’ll cover today, you might be thinking switching to a new boiler is more hassle than it’s worth. But if you take a look at some of the average cost of repairs below, you might have second thoughts and realise just how much more expensive keeping your old boiler could be:
Type Of Boiler Repair | Average Cost Of Repair |
---|---|
Gas Valve Replacement | £200 |
Pressure Valve | £150 |
Combustion Fan | £275 |
Printed Circuit Board | £300 |
Printed Circuit Board | £300 |
Thermostat | £125 |
New Boiler Pump | £300 |
Emergency Call Out Fee | £80 |
Hourly Rate | £55 |
Absolutely! There are still plenty of grants and schemes out there that can help you get a free boiler or partially funded boiler, saving you £100s, if not £1000s.
Still unsure if you qualify? Check with us for free today, and it’ll only take you 60 seconds.
Yes, you may still be able to get a free boiler even if you’re not on benefits! Whilst previous free boiler schemes focussed mostly on benefits, ECO4, LA Flex, the Warm Home Fund, and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme all focus on household incomes and energy efficiency, with a view to replacing inefficient boilers, rather than just using benefits as eligibility criteria.
Getting a free or partially funded boiler couldn’t be easier with Eco Grants and ZOA Energy Solutions. We’ll check all available schemes and grants to see if you’re eligible, and then, if you are, we can help you through the application process AND carry out the installation for you.
